No confirmation on Type-S pricing “ low to mid $50,000s ”

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I was looking at the A-Spec AWD as potential next car (because ventilated seats more than anything). Current TLX A-spec has about 53% residual value after 3 years, so $24K in 2023. Now the question is if I have the patience to wait...

The new interior is great.  The touch pad is a great upgrade from the old dual screen system.  If the ‘21 was available last year I would have gone with the TLX again instead of the tall car.  The 2.0T is more torquey than the 3.7 too.

* J35 (3.5L), TLX never saw the J37 3.7L and why there never any consideration for a manual according to Honda R&D for the TLX . (other than low sales)

The J37 w as killed off with the TL and last gen MDX. Way better motor than the J35 imo as wheel HP and torque numbers have been close to Honda’s rated crank HP and torque.

Thanks, I was just generalizing with 3.7 and the V6. I had both the TL with the 3.7 and the TLX with the 3.5 and I agree that the 3.7 was the better engine. Unfortunately the 6-speed transmission that it was coupled to couldn’t bring out the best of it. The 3.5 with the 9-ZF was a better overall combination but the 3.7 with the Acura 10-speed would be the best combo, baring a stick of course.

Having said that, the 2.0T feels much more spry than either of the V6.  The torque off the line and up hills is very noticable.

Ah ok sorry just saw tlx. And would agree the torque is where you want it for the 2.0t. I just wish the woud have done more with th e j37. Wasted potential imo

I want to have a chance to drive a manual Accord 2.0t to see how it works with a sedan and/ vs the 10 speed . I have heard though stock throws are long and the pedal is deep.

I will say I’m glad they figured out the 10 speed early and its set up well . The 9 speed just cant get over that stigma no matter the fix

And is the  10 speed is different between H onda and Acura? Or is it FWD setup vs AWD setup?

The 10 Speed is similar to the one in the RDX, not the Honda line (no AWD version). The TLX uses a different tuning though so it should behave more aggressively in the TLX vs the RDX.

I just did all the training for the upcoming TLX, AMA.

The J37 was plagued with oil burning issues, and considering it’s displacement? Not that efficient. The DI J35 has 16 less HP, but a much more aggressive gearing set and much higher efficiency, as well as a lighter overall package with the 9 speed ZF transmission (60lbs lighter than the outgoing 6 speed). Also, the later version of the SH-AWD system is more efficiency and can transfer power rearward quicker, with better accuracy, so handling also improved as well.
